Choosing the Right Health Plan

HMO (Health Maintenance Organization)

With an HMO plan, many of your health care needs are covered. Services must be medically necessary and provided by participating providers. Coverage includes many preventive health care services to keep you healthy. We want you to be completely satisfied with the quality of care you receive. You can change your PCP as often as once a month.

PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)

A PPO gives you the freedom to choose any doctor, specialist, or hospital to provide your care. The choice is yours, but there are advantages to choosing network providers. These include lower copays, and reduced out-of-pocket expenses.

POS (Point-of-Service Plan)

With a Point of Service (POS) plan, you choose your level of coverage. Many of your health care needs are covered, Services must be medically necessary and provided by participating providers. Coverage includes many preventive health care services to keep you healthy. You also choose your own primary care physician (PCP) from participating providers. No referrals are needed for specialist visits. With POS plans, you can see participating providers at the highest level of coverage, or go out of network and pay more of the cost yourself. The choice is yours.

Consumer-Directed Health Benefits Plans (C3)

Lets you take control of health care spending. These types of plans offer financial advantages, including pre-tax payroll deductions and tax-free employer contributions. In some cases, your accounts can grow when you carry funds over from year to year. Your employer may offer one or more of these types of plans: health reimbursement arrangements, flexible spending accounts, and health savings accounts. Members who purchased individual coverage may also choose from some of our C3 products.
